What if you could vote for your favorite candidate without worrying about “wasting your vote”?
Join the League of Women Voters of the Fredericksburg Area for our inaugural Community Conversation on Ranked Choice Voting (RCV)—an alternative election method gaining traction across the country that allows voters to rank candidates in order of preference.
Whether you’re hearing about RCV for the first time or you’re curious about how it might work in Virginia, this conversation will help you understand:
- How Ranked Choice Voting works and what makes it different from our current system
- Where RCV is currently used and what results communities have seen
- The debate around RCV: potential benefits and concerns
- What it would take to implement RCV in Virginia
- How voters experience RCV in practice
This is a learning opportunity, not advocacy. True to League values, we’ll explore all perspectives on this voting method so you can form your own informed opinion.
What to Bring:
Your curiosity, your questions, and maybe a friend! Refreshments and snacks will be available for purchase from Curitiba Café.
