Why This Matters

This referendum concerns whether Virginia should temporarily allow the General Assembly to modify congressional district boundaries under specified conditions before the next decennial census. Because the current redistricting process is set out in the Constitution of Virginia, any change must be presented to voters through the constitutional amendment process.

The Fredericksburg Region

This referendum may affect how communities in Fredericksburg and the surrounding counties are grouped for representation in Congress if the amendment is approved and new district lines are implemented.

Voters should consult official election resources for final district and ballot information.
