Book Club Meeting – February

This month’s title

In our second Civic Conversations Book Club meeting, we’ll read The Woman Behind the New Deal to explore how Frances Perkins helped shape some of the most enduring social and labor protections in American history. Together, we’ll examine how policy ideas become law, the role of unelected leaders in democratic governance, and how crises can open the door to lasting institutional change. As the League of Women Voters of the Fredericksburg Area, we’ll connect these lessons to our mission of empowering voters and strengthening democracy by understanding how public policy is made—and who has the power to shape it.
